Apollo 13 Crew, Vehicle, and Cause of the Failure

The crew consisted of Commander James A. Lovell, Command Module Pilot John L. Swigert, and Lunar Module Pilot Fred W. Haise. The spacecraft launched on a Saturn V rocket from Kennedy Space Center. The explosion occurred on April 13, 1970, after a routine cryogenic stir, damaging oxygen tank 2 and losing most of the Command Module's oxygen supply and electrical power. What Happened After the Oxygen Tank Explosion

After the explosion, the crew powered down the Command Module and used the Lunar Module Aquarius as a lifeboat.
