Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman portrays Michelle "MJ" Jones, a new take on Mary Jane Watson, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: Homecoming. Principal photography for Spider-Man: Homecoming began in June 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia, and also took place in New York City and other locations. The film was shot under the working title "Summer of George." The production budget was reported to be approximately $175 million. Filming wrapped in October 2016. The film had its world premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on June 28, 2017. It was released theatrically in the United States on July 7, 2017.
